Is bread good for rabbits

As we have just said above that if you will offer some bread to the rabbits, they will definitely eat it because they don’t know if it’s good for them or not. So the real question that arises here is that is bread good for rabbits?

The answer is a big No!

Rabbits are herbivores and their primary diet is grass and hay and they cannot digest artificial food like bread. The scientific logic behind this is that the stomach of rabbits is very sensitive and specific. It can only digest cellulose and fibrous content which is only present in greenish plants, grass, hay, vegetables, and certain fruits. On the other hand, bread is enriched with starches and complex carbohydrates which cannot be digested by the stomach of rabbits.

So if you will feed bread to the rabbits, this undigested starch and complex carbs will start fermenting inside the digestive tract of rabbits and cause diarrhea. Diarrhea in turn can lead to severe dehydration and even death.
  2. Pain in Digestive Tract : When rabbits will have a high amount of undigested starch and complex carbohydrates present in their stomach then they will experience severe pain in their digestive tract.
